Islamic Studies Journal (ISJ) is a peer-reviewed Islamic Studies journal published by Mohamed Bin Zayed University in collaboration with Brill. The journal specializes in Islamic Studies in all its subdisciplines and in the Islamic world and all its aspects (in terms of theories, methodologies, and approaches). It welcomes a wide range of historical, linguistic, textual, philological, social, cultural, economic, political, and intellectual approaches. The journal pays special attention to research that deals with the fields of Islamic law (fiqh) legal theory (u?ul al-fiqh), history, ?adith, Qur?an, exegesis (tafsir), theology (kalam), politics and ethics. Interdisciplinary studies are also encouraged. ISJ covers various time periods and geographic regions.
ISJ publishes research in both Arabic and English. The journal only publishes original content that has not been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
