Globalization, shorter product life cycles, and new information technologies – competition takes no longer between companies, but between entire supply chains. Hence there is a need for a synchronized measurement and improvement of supply chain performance occuring, which is a complex construct overall. Supply chain performance management encompasses therefore all methodologies, metrics, processes, systems, and even software applicable to this task.
