Kosten und Nutzen der dualen Ausbildung aus Sicht der Betriebe

Seit vielen Jahren untersucht das Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung die Kosten und den Nutzen der betrieblichen Ausbildung. In der sechsten Kosten-
Nutzen-Erhebung wurden etwa 3.000 Ausbildungsbetriebe und rund 1.000 Nichtausbildungsbetriebe zur Ausbildung und Rekrutierung von Fachkräften im Ausbildungsjahr 2017/2018 befragt. Der Band informiert – differenziert nach Regionen, Betriebsgrößenklassen, Ausbildungsbereichen, Berufen und Ausbildungsjahren – über die Bruttokosten, die während der Ausbildung anfallen, die Erträge, die die Auszubildenden erwirtschaften, und die daraus resultierenden Nettokosten.

The Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) has analysed for many years the costs and benefits of apprenticeship training in the dual system on the firms’ perspective. In the sixth Cost-Benefit-Survey around 3,000 training firms and 1,000 non-training firms provided information concerning apprenticeship training and the recruitment of skilled workers in the training year 2017/18. The book informs – differentiating for region, firm size, training sector, vocation and training year – about
the costs, raised during the apprenticeship period, the benefits resulting from the apprentices’ productive contributions, and the resulting net costs. Additionally we present issues concerning the training organization and motivation of firms and especially the benefit accruing from a retention of the apprentices as skilled workers in the firm. A substitute for apprenticeship training is the recruiting of skilled workers from the external labour market. We examine the costs and challenges of this alternative strategy as well. A brief analysis of the development of costs and benefits of apprenticeship training is also included.
