Having achieved so much in sixteen years, the founding editors have chosen to retire their editorship. Esther Oluffa Pedersen, who has been part of SATS’ editorial team the last 7 years, continues as a member of the new international group of Executive Editors:
Mark Addis (London)
Nora Hämäläinen (Helsinki)
Esther Oluffa Pedersen (Roskilde)
Kenneth R. Westphal (Istanbul)
Managing Editorial Assistant: Arman Teymouri Niknam (Aarhus)
We are deeply honoured and delighted by the confidence expressed in us, individually and as a team, by Anders Moe Rasmussen and Steen Brock, by inviting us to assume their editorial responsibilities. At our first face-to-face meeting in Berlin, by kind invitation of our publishers, Walter de Gruyter, we quickly recognized how well our interests and expertise complement one another’s, corroborating the founding editors’ decisions to invite our assuming care of and editorial responsibilities for their philosophical creation.
We shall maintain and augment the commitment of SATS to publish leading research across the range of contemporary philosophical interests and endeavours, both systematic and historical. We welcome contributions in all fields of philosophy, and encourage research which integrates a variety of concerns, techniques or resources from across the range of philosophical traditions, in order to focus and make progress with the article’s central issues. To develop our position as a meeting place for different strands of philosophy, we seek to publish excellent research addressing a broad audience of philosophers and scholars in allied fields. Thus we encourage contributors to avoid jargon, explicate technical passages, and clarify the relevance of their work to non-specialists.
We are committed to maintaining, indeed enhancing the integrity of peer review. Articles which pass an initial screening will be reviewed by a member of our Editorial Advisory Board and by another expert in the relevant field. A third report may be sought in response to sharply diverging assessments.
We shall continue to feature a combination of special invited articles, peer-reviewed contributions and review articles. We shall revitalize our Editorial Board, and are developing a variety of plans by which SATS can further contribute to supporting and developing constructive philosophical reflection, research, exchange and communication across Europe and internationally. As our plans reach fruition, they shall be announced in these pages. As always, we invite and encourage you, our readers, to consider submitting your best research to SATS, and to recommend SATS to your colleagues and other scholars. The fundamental message of SATS is to make philosophy all it can and should be! We are very grateful for your support and interest.
