Narrating Uncertain Futures

How can uncertain futures be narrated and why do they matter for literature as much as cultural imaginaries? Arguing that speculative fictions experiment with narrative form to narrate uncertain futures, Anna Tabouratzidis examines different modes of uncertainty in works by Sibylle Berg, Annalee Newitz, and Kim Stanley Robinson, among others. These future narratives express a ›structure of feeling‹ characterised by radical uncertainty and function as prefigurative forms of future-making, by which they underline the cultural and political relevance of storytelling.
